How To Fill In Gaps Between Hardwood Flooring With Wood Filler

In this video, I show you how to fill in gaps between hardwood flooring with wood filler. The process is relatively simple. Fill in the gap with wood filler, leave the wood filler to dry, and wipe off the excess with a damp rag. This will fill in the gaps between your hardwood floor pieces and make your floors look a lot better!

Wonderfully explained that even a novice such as myself felt very comfortable acting on it. Thanks !
Bungo Man
yes but after all the wood filler will start to crack up once you walk on the flooring plus the temperature difference when wood shrink and expands ?????????
Googleaboutme
Thank you. Great info.
Joseph Gries
You need to use wood filler that is made for floors to allow for expansion.
zöe taylor
I have to do it for my whole entire floor any way to do that quick??
terrill marshall
Good video thanks very helpful

Thanks for sharing! Really useful!

Expansion gaps are necessary...but if your up for a battle with mother nature --use wax stick.. but use special "won't melt on warm day" for woodwork stuff.
Mona Mee

Dude, you should have showed how to stain the wood filler
Eric Chan
I tried this but they gradually came out due to mopping, any idea how to fix it?
Darren M
I'd rather use a wood colored caulk. It's meant to expand and contract.
Patrick LastName
Just keep in mind that wood filler is a temporary solution. This filler will probably be gone in about a year or so, faster if climat has extreme changes because the wood expands and contracts with humidity.

NOW AS YOUR FAHHTHER PROBABLY TOLD YOU, MY NAME IS MATT FOOOLLEY!!!
Marlen Vassallo

So basically just follow the direction on the back of the filler. Got it.
Pat C.
Does the filler still look good in the cracks of your floor? I went to the website of Legpage wood filler and each product says not for floors. ???
digibluh
if the boards move just a tiny bit like 0.1-2mm and it's med traffic area, don't expect that to last. i tried and it's gone now, disappeared in thin air. this is good idea if you're going to re-finish the floor then you do it and stain/seal it so it won't come out but otherwise this is a waste and will just come out eventually, and eventually is like 1-2 weeks in my case.

My ceiling is wood An is kinda leaky from the rain . Could i use this to stop the leakage ?

....onwards to a professional fix.
Whether it be floor or ceiling folks...... you wood will expand and contract with nature's forces, time, etc.
Wood filler is only a temporary fix as it WILL crack again, and then you'll have to deal with the problem yet again.
VERY sorry Sir..... but apparently I'm done finding quick fixes
Michael McElwee
Do you think you could do a two hour seminar on how to find a kick ass rag to wipe the wood filler with? Jeeez!! I want the last 5 minutes of my life back!!!!
Trev V.
What kind of wood is that?
Frankie Bones
This is what my apartment handy man did but it's all popping out. I think it helps to clean the dirt out of the gaps before doing this and fixing the squeaks and loose strips first.
White Tara
thanks!
J Shysterr
your going to fill all the gaps in the floors of your house with your finger?
i doodle
Fab idea sir (and I wish it was this easy) but did you ever think of expansion and contraction issues???????
DOES ANYONE OUT THERE have the PROPER idea as to how to fill gaps in wood without acquiring further cracks next month???
I have wood ceilings and now have termite poop falling down onto my furniture....... I have been searching for hours and have yet to find the best fix.... that is capable of both expansion & contraction issues with the ceiling!!!!

Nobody here is looking for friends and whomever to say 'hey to you'..... some of us are attempting to truly fix a problem without further problems in the future!!!!
andrew udut
your nutz, it will take me forver

Thanks for the info. I hired a contractor to install hardwood floor. Little I knew that the huge gaps left on my floor were not supposed to be there. He told me that with time, they will disappear. Well, it is over 2 years now and those gaps just collect debris and food, So, I will try your method. I hope it works. It sees to easy but once one tries is not that easy. Thanks.
Sony
Where do you buy this wood filler brand??
Accurate TV Repair Home Theater Design
I'll use a plastic putty knife, not my finger.
Andy P
Thank You! I am going to do this today on a $100k floor, custom built by a German, so wish me luck and thank you again!
WonkaaVision
Ha ha This is no use to me. My gaps are 3mm each x 34 planks = 102mm of gaps to fill. Looks like I'm gonna have to pull the floor up and that just the Kitchen. Cries.....
Watchdog
I have about 70 separations from drying wood over the years.  It seems to me that in time the filler will  break loose and settle to the bottom despite applying a wood finish restorer?
Em Jay
